The words are tools invented by humen.
Because people gave words to things, they can communicate.

However, recently,
Japanese parents want to give their children the words more than the experiences.
They teach that text books are more important than friends.
Therefore,
Japanese children learn the meaning of things in not the experience but the word.

And the children grow up to the adults.
By the way, there are mysterious word "sex friend" in Japan.
And it is not a meaning of "sweetheart".
If they have sexual intercourse, they do not need "love".
Because they learnt that friendship is unnecessary for themself in their childhood.

Maybe, "Date" means "Date course" in Japan.
And, a person devising the date course and a person enjoying it seem to be called "couple".

I think that the meaning of "date" is having happy time with sweetheart.
"Love" is important, and sharing of experiences increase "love".
Therefore,
I think that I should ask my heart about love to her, and I should know her happiness by her smile.

... So, I do not understand the meaning of this question.
Because the sweetheart is not the customer.
My sweetheart's happiness is not known to me unless it sees my sweetheart.
